SSH Telnet
Discover more about the Telnet protocol and its use.
SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol which is used to connect to a web server and perform various tasks via a command line. The protocol is preferred by many expert users, for the reason that the information transmitted over it is encrypted, so it may not be intercepted on the way by a 3rd party. SSH access can be employed for a number of things depending on the type of hosting account. With a shared hosting account, for instance, SSH is one of the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file if the website hosting server allows it. When you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH may be used for practically anything - you can install software or restart specific services such as the web server or the database server which run on the machine. SSH is used mostly with UNIX-like Systems, but there are clients which allow you to employ the protocol if your personal computer is using a different Operating System as well. The connection is created on TCP port 22 by default and the remote hosting server always listens for incoming connections on that port even though many service providers change it for security reasons.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
When you have a
shared hosting account with our company and you would like to deal with your content remotely via SSH, you may get SSH access to the account using your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package deal does not provide this feature as standard, you can easily add it with several mouse clicks through the Upgrades menu. Inside the SSH section of the Control Panel, you'll see the host, the port number and the username that you need to use when you connect to the account. You could also choose what password you would like to use, as it doesn't have to be the same as the one for the account. We've prepared numerous Help articles in which you can easily find all of the commands you will be able to use with a shared hosting package, plus examples of how they are used. Furthermore, if SSH access is allowed for your account, you will be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection via a standard client like FileZilla, for example.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
You'll be able to connect to your
semi-dedicated server account using SSH regardless of which package you choose when you sign up. With some plans, the function is provided as standard, while with others, it could be included as an extra upgrade for as long as you need it. You'll find the required login details inside the Hepsia Control Panel, included with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You will be able to choose the password that you will use and if you would like, you can change it all the time with a couple of clicks for even better security. You'll be able to see all the commands you can use beforehand, since we've listed all of them alongside examples of how they are used so as to accomplish a particular task. The moment SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is allowed, you'll be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
The
VPS server packages which we offer come with SSH access by default, not as a paid upgrade or a feature which you have to enable. Once your new server is ready, you shall be able to connect and start working on your content using the login details that you've entered during the order process. A copy of the SSH credentials shall be sent to you via e mail too. As your VPS will be isolated from the others on the physical server, there aren't any limitations as to what you can or can't do via SSH. You are able to download, set up and manage any piece of software that'll run on a Linux server, reboot the whole server or only a particular software component, and work with files, folders and databases without any restrictions. All you will require for that is a console or an SSH client on your end.
